Government is nowadays focusing on connecting tribal majority Kanker district to sources of income other than agriculture. Government is working for years for the benefit of farmers through various schemes. Agriculture science center is also collaborating with the state government in this regard.

Agricultural Science center of Kanker is making lots of efforts towards the progress of farmers. Workshops are being organized to educate the mass on scientific and efficient ways of farming to achieve maximum output at low cost. The government has also been a success in this area up to an extent. After following the scientific method of farming, hundreds of farmers become prosperous and wealthy. But if we listen to the scientists of Agricultural science center still there is a need to look at other sources of income. The land is a limited resource, year on year it will be distributed to the new generation, with the same resources farmers are running their livelihood. So It is the need of the hour to look for alternative sources of income for present and future.

Many innovative plans have been introduced for the prosperity of farmers. One of the schemes is to distribute farmers with the famous "kadaknath" species of chicks. As per government poultry farming has immense scope in the state. The topmost reason why people are coming into poultry farming business is a low investment and high returns. The food intake of chicks is low and they provide regular income. Government is encouraging villagers to enter into poultry farming business. The common man is also appreciating this initiative towards the prosperity of farmers.

There is a huge demand of Kadaknath meat in the market and it costs almost double of Normal chicken meat.

With the help of "Agricultural science Centre", a mother unit has been established in Kanker district. Authorities are contacting other agricultural centers of the state to obtain Kadaknath species eggs for the purpose of distribution to farmers.

If we talk about Kadaknath chicks, they are as similar to other species of chicken, just their skin and blood is black, it belongs to the species of birds and famous among meat eaters. Price of its meat is almost twice or thrice the normal chickens.

In the first stage itself, a target of distributing chicks to 100 farmers has been set. These farmers will distribute the eggs in future to other farmers so that they can also be benefited with the scheme. With this revolution, farmers would be able to earn higher revenues in the market. Farmers are experiencing a rise in their income because of poultry farming.
